    <title>VIDA WINS FLW EVERSTART EVENT ON DETROIT RIVER</title>
    <link>http://www.fly-fishing-flies.com/selected_news_500005</link>
    <description>
    SPIRIT LAKE, Iowa – With wins on Lake Erie, Lake St. Clair and the Detroit River already to his credit, Berkley®, Abu Garcia® and Fenwick® Pro Kevin Vida is well versed in how to fish these northern waters. That experience paid off for him last weekend as seasoned pro won the FLW EverStart Series Northern Division event on Detroit River.

With a winning weight of 36 pounds, 11 ounces, Vida won the tournament by more than a pound thanks to a final day when he was one of only four anglers to catch a limit. Vida pocketed ,400 plus contingency money and a fully rigged Ranger boat. The win was the third of his career on the EverStart series. Vida primarily used a Berkley Frenzy® Rattl’r lipless crankbait in blue chrome to search for bass in practice, fishing mostly in shallow water at the mouth of the Detroit River. “I found my fish with a Frenzy Rattl’r and a spinnerbait. On the first day of competition I caught all my fish on the Rattl’r,” Vida said. “On the second day I caught my first keeper on it. After an hour and a limit of about 14 pounds, I started moving around again to different areas with the Frenzy. I found a little hole and caught two nice keepers. It was the difference in how I finished as almost all my keepers the rest of the tournament came from that spot.”

Vida used a Fenwick TechnaAV 7-foot medium action rod with an Abu Garcia Torno 3006 reel and 14 pound sensation with the Frenzy Rattl’r. He also used a 6-foot-6-inch TechnaAV spinning medium heavy action with an Abu Garcia Cardinal 704 center drag reel with 10 pound Vanish Transition with tubes. Last week, FLW Outdoors announced that Pure Fishing® - with its leading portfolio of fishing brands including Berkley, Abu Garcia, Stren®, Spiderwire®, Fenwick, Sevenstrand®, Mitchell® and Johnson® - has signed the largest, most comprehensive endemic sponsorship agreement in FLW Outdoors history. The multiyear sponsorship agreement will commence in conjunction with the 2006 tournament season. Pure Fishing’s sponsorship will include participation in all of the FLW Outdoors tournament trails.

Pure Fishing’s Berkley brand will be the exclusive fishing line of the Wal-Mart FLW Tour. New in 2006, the Stren Series (formerly known as the EverStart Series) will showcase Pure Fishing’s premier Stren fishing line brand and will serve as bass fishing’s pathway to the FLW Tour. Additionally, Pure Fishing’s Abu Garcia brand of reels and rods will share title sponsorship of the successful Wal-Mart Texas Tournament Trail. Berkley is located in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Included in the Berkley brand are Trilene®, Vanish® and FireLine® fishing lines as well as Gulp!® and PowerBait® soft baits.

    <title>WORLDS 1 SELLING BAITCAST REEL</title>
    <link>http://www.fly-fishing-flies.com/selected_news_500003</link>
    <description>
    SPIRIT LAKE, IOWA – Using an Abu Garcia 5500C3CT Mag Elite, Tommy Farmer of Team North Carolina set a new United States casting record of 839.25 feet at the SportCast USA Southeast Regional in Wilmington, N.C., on Monday. Farmer's record cast (equivalent to the length of 2.79 football fields) shattered the previously long-standing US record of 821 feet. Farmer's record-breaking cast came with the Abu Garcia reel casting .28mm diameter monofilament line and 125g sinker.

Abu Garcia reels notes for their performance and durability have long been the favorite of competitive distance casters throughout the world, with both national and international competitors favoring 5500 and 6500 Mag Elites or ever popular Abu Garcia reels like Ultra Mag. <title>Abu Garcia Ambassadeur</title>
    <link>http://www.fly-fishing-flies.com/selected_news_500002</link>
    <description>
    SPIRIT LAKE, IOWA – Too often a value series reel is a mere skeleton of the higher price versions. Not so with the Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 1003 LP baitcaster. The price says low budget but the features scream high value. The name itself, Abu Garcia Ambassadeur, has a decades long tradition of building the best bait cast reels on the market. The low profile design fits the hand comfortably and the oversized handle is easy to operate. Drag control is convenient with the large star drag located at the base of the handle.

Internally, the 1003 LP has both magnetic and mechanical brakes, a feature not included on many high priced reels. More than ample line capacity is provided on the aluminum spool. Three bearings provide smooth operation and the 6.1:1 high speed gear ratio allows the angler to burn a Berkley® Frenzy™ Rattl’r through the grass or slow down to pull a Texas rig Berkley Power Worm® by a sunken brush pile.

To find out more about the Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 1003 LP baitcast reel or for the nearest Abu Garcia retailer, call Abu Garcia Angler Services at 1-800-237-5539 or visit the Abu Garcia website at www.abu-garcia.com.

The new Revo® series of low-profile baitcast reels are the finest and fastest low-profile reels that Abu Garcia® has ever designed. Heck, these are the finest low profile reels ever designed, PERIOD!

The NEW Abu Garcia® Revo® Skeet Reese reel. Its an Abu Garcia® Revo® low profile baitcaster with just a bit of customization by 2007 BASS Angler of the Year Skeet Reese. Just look for the yellow and black frame, Reese’s trademark colors. Reese simply can’t fish without his Revo Premier® reels but he wanted to tweak the design to fit his personal fishing needs. The result is one of the lightest aluminum reels on the market weighing only 6.8 ounces with Angler of the Year features. The one-piece frame is built with X-Cräftic™ corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy, super light and super strong. The Revo Skeet Reese uses oversized 6.4:1-gear ratio Duragear™ gears made of heavy duty and corrosion-resistant alloy. For Reese a color change was not enough and this namesake reel features eleven HPCR® (High Performance Corrosion Resistant) bearings for added smoothness during casts and retrieves. The reel’s Carbon Matrix™ Drag System incorporates the most consistent drag pull of any reel in its class. With Carbon Matrix Drag, Reese feels a solid and smooth line drag, not the erratic pull of line felt on most other drag systems. “This reel is cool! It’s yellow and black,” said Reese.
“But it’s also cool because it has more bearings than the original Revo Premier, with a special handle for more power and torque. The eleven bearings give me better casting. I’m very flattered Abu Garcia has this Special Skeet Reese Edition.” Available in both a right- and left-hand version, the Revo Skeet Reese has a line capacity of 145 yards of 12-pound monofilament fishing line. Reese also selected a centrifugal brake system for his reel as well as the Infini II™ Spool and an extended Throw Handle with extra large grips for ease of retrieve. Salt or fresh, like all Abu Garcia® reels, they are Built for Life .

The new Revo® series of low-profile baitcast reels are the finest and fastest low-profile reels that Abu Garcia® has ever designed. Heck, these are the finest low profile reels ever designed, PERIOD!

The new Revo® Toro™ baitcast reels from Abu Garcia® takes the sleek and comfortable design of the low profile Revo reel and adds the high-capacity spool size found on our world famous round reels. This combination allows the angler to fight and turn a hard-driving and long-running fish right from the hookset. Available in two sizes, the Model 50 has a line capacity of 200 yards of 14-pound monofilament fishing line. The larger Model 60 will hold 250 yards of 14-pound line. The low profile frame and side plate of the Toro is made of X-Cräftic™ aluminum alloy. This material is more durable and lighter than regular aluminum and is highly corrosion resistant. The seven High Performance Corrosion Resistant (HPCR®) bearings and Duragear™ brass gears add to the reel’s durability and long life. With 22-pounds of maximum drag, our famous Carbon Matrix™ Drag System is double the strength of similar competitor models.
This is particularly important with the hook set on a lake trout, turning a tough snook or bull red, or from keeping a monster muskie from entering a brush pile. Both the 10.3-ounce Model 50 and 10.8-ounce Model 60 Toro reels offer a high-speed 6.4:1 gear ratio version (50-HS and 60-HS) and a cranking speed 5.4:1 reel. The Swedish engineered Revo Toro also features an Infini II™ Spool design for the smoothest of operations, six-pin centrifugal break, synchronized level wind, line alarm and is packaged with both an Extended Throw and a Paddle Handle. Salt or fresh, like all Abu Garcia® reels, they are Built for Life .

    <title>Pike 98cm 6kg</title>
    <link>http://www.fly-fishing-flies.com/selected_news_500001</link>
    <description>
    Pike 98cm 6kg
Great day! Caught pike long: 98 cm, weight: 6 kilo.
At 7:00 AM I sailed to the rocks to fishing there.
When I was sail, I put one spinning at trolling. At the half way to the rocks at 7:30 AM I felt a sharp jerk and fishing-line started unwinding. After 15 minutes fighting with the fish on the depth of 120 meters a beautiful pike appeared. Near the boat she did not resist, just wide open mouth trying to get rid of the troll. I catch her by gaff and raised on a boat.
I decided that for today I do not need more fish and turned back to the wharf. For half an hour swimming, pike yanked just a couple of times. Probably she was in shock from the pressure, she was raised from the great depth.
Near the hotel, others tourists living there asked me for photo session :) Hotel owner kindly allowed shares pike in their kitchen. During sharing pike our hotel owner made excursions for the other people leaving in the hotel, each one of them came to the kitchen and enthusiastically watched this process. Pike was really HUGE! In the evening pike chopped into pieces had been partly grilled. 8 people had been able to eat only half of it. The remaining half was given to the hotel personnel, and they were happy to eat it, too.

    <title>ABU GARCIA PRO BLAYLOCK CLAIMS FIRST PRO FLW TITLE</title>
    <link>http://www.fly-fishing-flies.com/selected_news_500055</link>
    <description>
    COLUMBIA, S.C. (April 28, 2009) – On Sunday, Abu Garcia pro Stetson Blaylock claimed his first FLW Tour pro title. In the process, the Benton, Ark., native became the youngest angler to win an FLW Tour event. Blaylock, 21, earned a 0,000 check for his winning-effort on Lake Norman with a total weight of 23-pounds, 15-ounces.
http://res.fly-fishing-flies.com/content/news/images/normal/500055_7374626.jpg
 “I tried to stick with my strengths and fish a jig” said Blaylock. But as the jig bite tapered off, I had to switch things around and go with a shaky head. But overall, the one constant was my rod n’ reel. I counted on my Abu Garcia Premier to keep me in the fight and it lasted to the finish.”

Blaylock utilized a new 7’0” MH Abu Garcia Vendetta, a prototype rod to be introduced at ICAST 2009, paired with an Abu Garcia Premier to secure his first pro-level event. Blaylock said the Abu Garcia Revo Premier performed perfectly because of its light weight and durability. It is a reel that I never second-guess picking up and using for a majority of my techniques.

Blaylock targeted a few bed fish along with some boat docks with shade around them during the three-day event. Blaylock looks to continue the success in his home state of Arkansas on Beaver Lake May 14 – 17.

    <title>ABU GARCIA PRO WILLIAMSON HAMMERS COMPETIION</title>
    <link>http://www.fly-fishing-flies.com/selected_news_500054</link>
    <description>
    COLUMBIA, S.C. (March 16, 2009) – Abu Garcia pro Jason Williamson put the hammer down during the first leg of the 2009 BASS Elite Series trail. The Aiken, S.C., native weighed in over 96-pounds of fish during the four-day event at Lake Amistad. The Abu Garcia pro cashed a 0,000 check for his winning effort, his first Elite Series win of his career. The low-profile baitcasting Revo STX reels were Williamson’s choice for the Lake Amistad BASS Elite Series event.
http://res.fly-fishing-flies.com/content/news/images/normal/500054_8622897.jpg
“My Revo reels came through once again,” Williamson said. The Abu Garcia STX reels performed flawlessly. The second day was the biggest difference in the win. I was able to capitalize on some big bites and the Revo reels helped land the biggest sacks of the event.”

Williamson was able to cash in on an area that held the majority of the fish he caught. His final day total of 34 pounds, 12 ounces was the biggest bag weighed during the entire tournament.

Williamson was not the only Abu Garcia pro enjoying Amistad; Jared Litner (3rd), Stephen Browning (4th), Gary Klein (5th), Mike Iaconelli (7th), Boyd Duckett (9th) and Kenyon Hill finished eleventh.

The next Elite Series event is set for March 26-29 on Lake Dardanelle in Russellville, Ark.

    <title>Skeet Reese wins Bassmaster Classic Using the Revo</title>
    <link>http://www.fly-fishing-flies.com/selected_news_500053</link>
    <description>
    BOSSIER CITY, La. – Berkley Pro Skeet Reese of Auburn, Calif., faced evolving, late-winter weather conditions while fishing the 2009 Bassmaster Classic on the Red River near Shreveport-Bossier City, but managed to land five fish weighing 16 pounds, 12 ounces on the final day of competition, giving him a three-day total of 54 pounds, 13 ounces to capture the sport’s biggest championship on Sunday.
http://res.fly-fishing-flies.com/content/news/images/normal/500053_7694333.jpg
Edging out fellow Berkley Pro and second-place finisher Mike Iaconelli by 11 ounces, Reese brought 15 pounds, 8 ounces to the scale on the first day of competition, nearly five pounds less than the day-one leader, fellow Berkley Pro and former Classic champion, Boyd Duckett. On the second day, Reese rocketed himself into contention with a five-fish limit that weighed 22 pounds, 9 ounces, which put him in second place behind day-two leader Jami Fralick going into the third and final day.

“Winning the Angler of the Year was the crowning achievement in my career,” Reese said. “Since winning that title I have had a new goal and this was it. This is for my family, my friends, my sponsors and my fans.”

Utilizing a Berkley PowerBait Crazy Legs Chigger Craw to target bass in the river’s relatively shallow and very stained water, Reese made every fish count on his way to a 0,000 first-place payout, which puts him even closer to the ultra-exclusive ranks of million professional bass angler winners in less than 11 years on tour.

The 39-year-old Reese adds a world championship and Bassmaster Classic title to a resume that already included an Angler of the Year title in 2007, three BASS tournament wins and 10 Bassmaster Classic appearances.

Reese was not the only Berkley pro that made a run for the title, with 10 Berkley Pros making the Top-25 cut and fishing on the final day of the 39th Bassmaster Classic. In addition to Reese and Iaconelli finishing first and second, Berkley Pros Duckett (12th place), Kenyon Hill (seventh place), Bill Lowen (23rd place), Kevin Wirth (15th place), Greg Pugh (21st place), Bobby Lane (16th place), Casey Ashley (13th place) and Kelly Jordon (10th place) also finished in the Top 25.

    <link>http://www.fly-fishing-flies.com/selected_news_500052</link>
    <description>
    The SWBA held their two day California Offshore Challenge last week in tough winter conditions at Catalina Island. The best calico bass anglers along the Southern California coast competed in 2 person teams / 5 fish per a day total weight format. Day 1 Decker and Tracy were actually field testing a pair of Revo Winch prototypes, spooled with #65 Ultracast, Techna AV rods, and 7” Gulp! Jerk Shads. They weighed in 20.39 lbs end of the day and were in 5th place.
http://res.fly-fishing-flies.com/content/news/images/normal/500052_4445969.jpg
The film crew from Inside Sportfishing rode along on Jimmy’s Everglade and captured the all the calico bass action. Going into Day 2 they were 7 lbs below the Day 1 leaders. Decker decided to fish the same zone on Day 2 and got into a ‘ripping’ bite on the 7” Gulp! jerk shads fished really tight to the island. At one time they had a double going that went 11 lbs for two fish and continued to fish hard to reach their 5 fish limit with Tracy catching a personal best going 7.43 lbs. Decker and Tracy made the 12pm weigh-in with 25.53 lbs for a two day total of 45.92 lbs. Their competitors had tough fishing on Day 2 while Decker / Tracy ended up winning the tournament by 4 lbs and ,600 in prize money. Congratulations Jimmy Decker and Tracy Viloria for ‘back to back’ WINS on the SWBA circuit.

    <title>ABU GARCIA PRO KEVIN WIRTH WAITS NO LONGER</title>
    <link>http://www.fly-fishing-flies.com/selected_news_500050</link>
    <description>
    Abu Garcia pro Kevin Wirth won his second tour-level event, which was held on Old Hickory Lake this past weekend. Wirth held off a late-charging Abu Garcia pro Bill Lowen with a total weight of 55 pounds, 10 ounces. The former Kentucky Derby jockey claimed a 100,000 check for his victory. The low-profile baitcasting STX reel was Wirth’s choice for the Tennessee Triumph BASS Elite Series event.
http://res.fly-fishing-flies.com/content/news/images/normal/500050_9279499.jpg
“Old Hickory proved to be a tough impoundment to fish,” Wirth said. “When you fish for 14 years and never stand in the winner’s circle, you begin to wonder if you can do it. This feeling was worth the long wait.”

In addition to the Abu Garcia reels, Wirth also used Berkley Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon as well as the Fenwick Techna AV for his baitcasting rod choice.

Wirth also earned an additional check with the Berkley “Pay for Performance” incentive program. Berkley pros are rewarded for using Berkley line or bait while finishing in the top five at BASS Elite Series or FLW Tour events. Berkley 5-inch Power Hawg, green pumpkin, was Wirth’s bait of choice.

Wirth was not the only Abu Garcia pro in the running; Bill Lowen finished second using the REVO STX.

The next Elite Series event is set for July 30- August 3 on Lake Erie in Buffalo, N.Y.

    <title>ABU GARCIA PRO DUDLEY IS FT LOUDOUN TELLICO CHAMPION</title>
    <link>http://www.fly-fishing-flies.com/selected_news_500049</link>
    <description>
    Abu Garcia pro David Dudley came from behind to capture a victory at the FLW Tour event on Ft. Loudoun – Tellico Lakes this past weekend. Dudley, 2-million dollar club member, won his fifth tour-level victory and snagged a cash prize of 5,000. Dudley edged out Abu Garcia pro Scott Martin by 1-pound, 4-ounces with a winning two-day weight of 29 pounds, 11 ounces.
http://res.fly-fishing-flies.com/content/news/images/normal/500049_5312017.jpg
“Both David and Scott did a great job at Ft. Loudoun – Tellico,” said Tammy Cox, Pure Fishing Field Service Rep. “The hard work that these pros put in over the year should be commended. David is one of the most dominant anglers on the tour and it is amplified through his performance over the years.”

Dudley used the Abu Garcia Revo Premier reel while cranking ledges on the upper end of Ft. Loudoun. “The Revo Premier has changed the way I have fished deep water,” said Dudley. “I have been able to rip my crankbaits through the water with no trouble using the low profile baitcaster. I couldn’t imagine fishing deep-water without a Revo Premier.”

Abu Garcia pros are dominating the Angler of the Year race with 7 out of the top 10 in position to claim the prize. The winner will be determined after the next event on Lake Erie in Detroit Michigan, July 10-13. Glen Browne continues to keep a strong hold on second, just 22 points behind the leader Andy Morgan. Luke Clausen is sitting in fourth place, but remains in the hunt. Over half the top 30 Pros in the AOY race are Berkley Pro Staff.

    <title>ABU GARCIA PRO STARKS CLAIMS VICTORY ON WHEELER</title>
    <link>http://www.fly-fishing-flies.com/selected_news_500048</link>
    <description>
    Abu Garcia pro Jeremy Starks edged Kevin VanDam for his first BASS title at the Southern Challenge on the 2008 BASS Elite Series trail. The Abu Garcia pro cashed a 0,000 check with his winning bag of 78-Pounds, 10-ounces. Starks battled food poisoning on Thursday and some butterflies to capture the victory on Wheeler Lake, Ala.
http://res.fly-fishing-flies.com/content/news/images/normal/500048_8190443.jpg
“You can't imagine what I felt like up there in that boat, getting ready to weigh in,” Starks said. I knew it was going to come down to ounces and I was that nervous. I stuck with my spots on Thursday despite a slight case of food poisoning. That proved to be a good decision because the fish started to hit and I was there to capitalize.”

Throughout the tournament, Sparks caught every fish he weighed using the Abu Garcia Revo. His magic spot was described as an old submerged creek feeding a main channel that had subtle bends in it .

In addition to the Abu Garcia Revo reels, Starks also used Berkley PowerBait Power Worms exclusively, Berkley Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon as well as Spiderwire Ultracast for his topwater presentation.

Starks was not the only Abu Garcia pro making a run for the Southern Challenge trophy, Abu Garcia Pro John Murray finished fourth while using the Abu Garcia Revo reel.

The next Elite Series event is set for June 12-15 on Kentucky Lake in Gilbertsville, Ky.

    <description>
    Abu Garcia pro Mark Martin claimed victory on the Professional Walleye Trail at this past weekend’s Berkley/Lowrance Pro-Am Series on Lake Oahe. The Abu Garcia pro made a push for the lead during the final day and weighed in a winning weight of 49-pounds, 15-ounces.
http://res.fly-fishing-flies.com/content/news/images/normal/500047_9583934.jpg
The win on Lake Oahe in Mobridge, S.D., earned the Abu Garcia pro a prize package worth over ,000. Martin jigged from the shoreline to 15 feet with Gulp! Alive minnows, switching to bait as a cold front rolled across the prairie.

“I trailed the entire tournament,” said Mark Martin. “My Abu Garcia reels really put me in position to win the tournament. Walleye anglers tend to abuse their equipment during a tournament and Abu Garcia reels are the only reels that can withstand the abuse.”

The remaining 2008 In-Fisherman Professional Walleye Trail schedule is:

June 26-27, Bull Shoals Lake out of Bull Shoals, Ark.
July 13-15, Wabigoon Lake out of Dryden, Conn.

    Abu Garcia anglers overshadowed the field of 50 at this past weekend’s PWT event on Saginaw Bay. The Abu Garcia team dominated the Saginaw Bay event, placing nine anglers in the top ten. The top three positions of the Professional Walleye Trail event included Abu Garcia pros: Mark Courts 1st place, Tommy Skarlis 2nd place and Bill Ortiz 3rd place.

Courts brought in a four-fish limit both days to earn the title with 39-pounds, 8-ounces of fish for the tournament. The win on Saginaw Bay in Bay City, Mich., earned the Abu Garcia pro a prize package worth over 0,000.

“The wear and tear that walleye anglers put on their reels is significant,” said Mark Courts. “Abu Garcia put their best reels on the market and they are a big reason why I was able to win today. The tournament trail has just started and I seem to be on the right track.”

Courts was not the only Abu Garcia pro enjoying a big tournament. Tommy Skarlis finished second and Bill Ortiz finished third, giving Abu Garcia a 1,2,3 finish to begin the season.

    <link>http://www.fly-fishing-flies.com/selected_news_500045</link>
    <description>
    Abu Garcia FLW pros are reaching the halfway point of the season, and if the second half is anything like the first, a great ending is expected. In a combined six FLW events, Abu Garcia pros have wrapped up three titles and have amassed 25 top 10 finishes.

Abu Garcia pros on the FLW Tour are continuing their success from the 2007 season with Michael Bennett taking the title on Lewis Smith Lake. During the same tournament in Jasper, Ala., pros Luke Clausen placed 4th, Greg Pugh placed 5th, Darrell Robertson placed 6th and Glenn Browne placed 9th.

The success in the FLW Tour tournaments is bleeding over into the Angler of the Year standings for the Berkley Pros, which include Michael Bennett (2), Glenn Browne (3), Luke Clausen (5), Greg Pugh (7) and Bryan Thrift (10).

On the FLW Series, Abu Garcia pros have fished three events and won two of them. J.T. Kenney won the event on Lake Okeechobee and Ramie Colson Jr. captured the title on Wheeler Lake.

“The success we have seen with our pros over the past two years is no surprise,” Tammy Cox, Abu Garcia Field Service Manager, said. “The Abu Garcia pros trust that we have made the best products possible, and it is evident in their performance.”

The next FLW Tour event is set for May 15-18 on Beaver Lake in Rogers, Ark. FLW Series anglers are hooking it up on Lake Mead in Henderson, Nev., and will finish the event May 10.

    <description>
    Abu Garcia BASS pros are near the mid-season point of the 2008 season. Following a successful first half of the BASS season, Abu Garcia pros look to finish strong in 2008. In six BASS Elite Series events, Abu Garcia pros have wrapped up one title and have 13 top 10 finishes.

The success from 2007 has carried over to the 2008 season. Abu Garcia pro Kenyon Hill claimed victory on Clarks Hill Lake in Evans, Ga., while Davy Hite (2), Casey Ashley (5), Peter Thliveros (8) and Skeet Reese (9) were close behind.

Success on the BASS Elite Series trail is also showing in the Angler of the Year standings for the Abu Garcia pros, which include Skeet Reese in 3rd, Scott Rook in 4th, Kenyon Hill in 6th and Bobby Lane in 10th.

    <title>ABU GARCIA PRO HILL CLAIMS BASS PRIDE OF GEORGIA CHAMPIONSHIP</title>
    <link>http://www.fly-fishing-flies.com/selected_news_500043</link>
    <description>
    Abu Garcia pro Kenyon Hill nearly lapped the field to take his first title
on the 2008 BASS Elite Series trail. Hill¹s closest competitor was nearly
nine pounds shy of reaching the first place finisher on Clarks Hill Lake.
The Berkley pro cashed a 0,000 check with his winning bag of 68-Pounds,
00-ounces. the low-profile baitcasting STX and REVO Premier reels were
Hill¹s choice for the Clarks Hill BASS Elite Series event.
http://res.fly-fishing-flies.com/content/news/images/normal/500043_8310885.jpg
³I had a very consistent week,² Hill said. The Abu Garcia STX and REVO
Premier reels performed as advertised. That 7-pounder I hauled in was the
biggest of the tournament and I brought him to the boat with ease. The Abu
Garcia reel was a key contributor in both the tournament win and the ³Big
Bass² of the tournament award.²

In addition to the Abu Garcia reels, Hill also used Berkley Trilene 100%
Fluorocarbon for Carolina rigging as well as Spiderwire Ultracast for his
topwater presentation.

Hill also cashed an additional check with the Berkley ³Pay for Performance²
incentive program. Berkley pros are rewarded for using Berkley line or bait
while finishing in the top five at BASS Elite Series of FLW Tour events.
This was Hill¹s third Top 12 finish in the first five events of the year.

Hill was not the only Abu Garcia pro making a splash. Skeet Reese, using the
new signature Skeet Reese edition REVO reels, finished in ninth place.

The Angler of the Year race continues to feature Abu Garcia pros. With the
win, Hill jumped back into the top ten at sixth place. Also included in the
top ten are Abu Garcia pros Skeet Reese (2007 BASS Angler of the Year) at
third, Scott Rook at fourth and Bobby Lane at 10th.

    <title>ABU GARCIA PRO MICHAEL BENNETT TAKES FLW EVENT</title>

    <description>
    Abu Garcia pro Michael Bennett dominated the FLW Tour event on Lewis Smith Lake, Alabama this past weekend and claimed his first FLW Tour level victory. After catching ten Smith Lake bass over the final two days that weighed 27 pounds, 8 ounces, Bennett cashed in a 5,000 check. Bennett relied on the Abu Garcia Cardinal 804 spinning reel spooled with Berkley Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon.
http://res.fly-fishing-flies.com/content/news/images/normal/500042_1292138.jpg
“It was a great week of fishing,” said Bennett, a resident of Roseville, California. “I have fished Abu Garcia reels my entire life. Without the right equipment, my first win on the FLW tour would not be possible.”

Bennett fished docks for most of the tournament. The Abu Garcia pro fished roughly 20 docks that were located in the main lake anywhere from the dam to the Duncan Bridge. “In practice they were on the very front of the dock, but the last two days they were further back,” said Bennett. “The best docks seemed to be on a point. The fish would go to the point to feed but I think they lived under the dock.”

The next FLW Tour qualifying event, the National Guard Open, is scheduled for Lake Norman in Charlotte, N.C., April 24-27.
